Last Day
Blip blip blip goes the red flower in my hand. Tomorrow I'm back to work.
We don't do much for the fourth specifically. I'm feeling more than a little alienated. But we went out to the Welfleet Audubon and got the most incredible view of the boldest red squirrel I've ever seen. Every other time I've caught a glimpse, they were 20' up and very skittish. But this one was bold as brass and was chittering on a tree not more than 5 feet above us. What beautiful animals. We also saw some turtles sunning themselves, a bullfrog, some tadpoles, and obviously a squillion birds including a similarly bold Bob White.
Then we went home and I grilled up some ribs and we ate and ate and ate. And then we ate more.
It's very hot. But we perservere.
All in all, not a bad end to a vacation.
