Irene Aftermath

Well, there really is no aftermath because for us there really wasn't any Irene. Saturdya we did a lot of prep, brought in plants from outside, lashed down the grill, frozen umpteen gallons of water in the freezers to keep them cold if we lost power for a long period of time. I woke up Sunday morning about 4am and noticed it was starting to get windy. Sort of. Kind of. So I logged into work and shut down the file servers, leaving only the mail server running.
Sunday it was actually a really nice day. There was a pleasant breeze, but not at all scary. Certainly no worse than your average nor'easter (mind you--we've had 12 hour power outages thanks to those) and once the tropical part had passed around 4-ish, the air wasn't very humid. We lost power once for about three minutes and we had some flickers, so when watching tv we had to restart the DVR a couple of times. But other than that, not a lot. We had a pleasant day and I made a nice shrimp scampi.
