Started to feel a scratchy throat and sneeze at work yesterday and by evening I was down like a down thing. Taking the day off today. Feel kind of feverish (97.2 which for me is .4 above normal) with the usual cold symptoms. Really could do without this at this time. Must Drink More Water.
Spoke with Elizabeth, our seller, yesterday about getting the contract in place and utilities changed over. Gave her the contingencies we want and she emailed back checking our full legal names, so I'm guessing she spoke with her attorney. I think we should be signing as soon as tomorrow. Even saying that makes me a little jumpy. She's doing well on getting the house cleaned out as well, though I feel bad. I know she just wants to get rid of it, but we don't want the leftover furniture.
I've also been looking at ideas for a longer term kitchen redesign. We don't like the cabinets or the counter tops or really anything about the kitchen. I'm not sure if we can improve much on the layout because we don't really have a wall without a window. Also not sure if we want to spend the money to move fixtures about rather than just doing a cabinet refresh. We definitely do want to switch the range over to a gas range, but that shouldn't be bad at all.
Mostly we're looking at Ikea cabinets and we found out there's a big Ikea affiliated installer right on Cape. This is probably something we will do when we finally sell our old place. Part of this is also figuring out how I'm going to work in the new kitchen before we rework it and where we want to put stuff. This is a wonderful luxury. I cook primarily on two little areas roughly 18" square between the sink and range. Usually it leaves me just one 18" space to actually cut and such because mise takes up the other.
In other news Netflix has seriously irked me with their idiotic plan to separate streaming and dvd rental. They had a product that just worked so well together, I just don't understand what they are thinking.

Date: 2011-09-20 01:50 pm (UTC)As for Netflix, Mo' money! I know their demand for streaming has gone way up, and I could see charging a bit more for it, but the price hike seems ridiculous, and having to have two bills for the same service is ludicrous. You might enjoy this if you haven't seen it already: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/netflix

Date: 2011-09-20 02:09 pm (UTC)I'm sort of worried about our own tendency to not do things as well, which is part of why we're trying to have a plan. As well as why we're going to drop thousands into a house before closing.
I didn't mind the price increase on Netflix because we were early adopters and have watched the streamable content get so much bigger. It's gone from almost nothing to probably half our content viewing. I knew that was going to come at a price.
But the separation of services is a very big useability downgrade. Netflix was just fantastic at recommendations and information. And it was always just so pleasant to have something in our dvd queue and have it suddenly pop up in our streamable queue when it became available. Or to be able to go to the site and see what seasons of a show were streamable and what were only on dvd.
