Hello from Thailand!

Just stealing a few minutes here. We got in yesterday utterly exhausted. Had a nice dinner in the hotel (too tired for anything else) and we are waiting for Tair to pick us up for our consultations.

Haven't seen much. I have more complete entries, but this is just a few seconds stolen on a PC in the lobby.

Well, I slept really poorly, but compared to the last few days it was pure bliss. Woke up overheated and Kendra asked politely if we could turn the AC up. Yes, absolutely.

Oh, I did get in touch with Janna last night before we left. God only knows how much that will cost us. I also got on the internet this morning before Tair picked us up and said hello to a few people and got the code to that phone card. So tonight I can just pick up the phone and try to use it. Heh. Good luck Kathy!

We met Samantha in the lobby and chatted. She seems nice actually. Not a Jenny. Yay. Nice pleasant and happy person. We commented on the staff thinking we were a couple and she said she thought it was likely. And I am apparently the butch, which looking at the two of us together is probably correct in that I'm butcher than Kendra. But in terms of anyone else. No. I thought it was funny given the teasing I usually get from friends about being a femme. (And they're actually correct.)

The consultation was fine. Ok, it was a bit embarrassing. First of all Kendra and I did it together so while we've carefully changed facing walls and in the bathroom, there we are being measured and prodded, complete with the laying down legs up position.

She's going to have an easy time. I'm not. I took off my panties and he grinned and pointed at his stomach and said "you get abdominal graft." Yay. Kendra chimed in afterwards that I have "no development whatsoever." I was amused. And then commented on my hip development. I really need to look at that genetic testing thing.

This means I will not be getting a refund to go shopping. I'll also be in the hospital for a few extra days. I'll have SRS and BA on Thursday and then on Saturday I'll have a short followup when they take the graft and stitch it in. Then 4 days after that I'll be discharged. So I will go with Kendra tomorrow to the hospital and won't get out until next Wednesday at the earliest.

He also noted that I won't have the best externals. I might want to come back for a secondary labiaplasty. I guess that wouldn't be the worst. I could come back for a week or two and take a vacation in Bangkok and then get the surgery towards the end.

We also met a few of Dr. Chettawut's assistants. I can't remember either of their names, but they were very nice. And complementary to both of us. One at one point sort of squinted and in a tone that made me think it wasn't part of the routine, an almost questioning tone, commented on how "female looking" we both were. God I love Dr. Ousterhout.

After the consultation we went to Secon Square. What a HUGE mall. I needed that adaptor for the laptop power plug. Now this wasn't at all anything exotic, this was literally the same three to two adaptor you use in the states for plugging a three prong plug into an ungrounded two prong plug. We found the "supermarket" which was more or less like a Meiers or Stupor Wallyworld and got one there. Then we had some lunch. Ok it was probably not really a valid interpretation of the dietary instructions, but it was at least soup. Udon and pork in broth, which I spiced up. Even used the fish sauce. Go Kathy! Kendra isn't so good on the hot hot spices.

There's very little we've seen here that is at all traditional. We're in the burbs. There's a lot of car lots around, some new and some used. And malls. And shops. And large apartment blocks. Not too many hotels. I think the reason Dr. Chet chose these may be that they're the only ones anywhere around here.

Oh and we both got a little bit of jewelry. Nothing exotic or particularly Thai. And I guess that's really the story. It's a world culture city. To me it's very exotic because I live in a tiny town on Cape Cod, but other than that, it could be any city. All the basics and then a cultural veneer and flavor of it's own on top of them.

And yes, for all my friends from Massachusetts, OF COURSE they have Dunkin Donuts. Geez. What do you think this is, the the third world or something? (Yes, as a matter of fact, I am serious.)

Internet in the room has turned out to be a "no" it's not internet, it's just a phone jack. That's all. Which also explains why their outgoing lines are always clogged. If I can find some cards for internet access that's great, but if not, it's the machines downstairs. I think we can just unplug the network cable and plug our laptop in and it should be fine. I'm sure looking at it that they don't have any sort of scheme that would get in the way.

What else. Well, the guidebooks lie. Everyone here wears pants. Everyone. There are far more skirts in evidence than you'd find in America, but there's certainly no taboo. However, I wore a skirt anyway. And God, I have to say, I'm with Kith, this is definitely a huge step up in comfort. I'll be wearing a lot of these in the future I think.

We were starting to get tired and grabbed a cab back to the hotel. And the heavens opened up about 10 minutes after we got back. And yay my adaptor works so I can sim myself into insanity in the hospital.

Just watching reactions to this meme, I think half of it is watching people reflect on themselves through it. Which is, I think, the entire point.

I know I read through someone's and saw one I was sure was me and then I another that made me say, NO the first one wasn't me, that's actually me. Then I got to a third that made me unsure of which of them it was. Or if it was any at all. Or if I was just reading things into it.

It's a really interesting exercise.

Well it's tuesday morning here. We're heading out to the hospital in a few hours so this is the last time I'll be able to write. We had a nice dinner last night. Soup (tom ka kai) and a lot of iced coffee with milk (what you see as Thai Iced Coffee in the shops in the US). It was very tasty, but I'm starving now. OTOH the jean skirt that was tight isn't anymore. I think I'm going to lose a lot of weight here even tho I eat a lot. It's all just so healthy. I love the flavors, just enough seafood for me to love it, and not too much to upset me.

Weeeee!!!

God I can't wait.

I'll bet I get really really sick of Sims 2 tho. It's about all I'll have to do in the hospital. Though I did bring a million books and I have videos... maybe I'll go for the full extended LOTR all at once...

Well barring miraculous internet at hospital, I guess I'll see you on the other side!

*HUG* and thanks again to all my friends...
