We didn't get up to a whole lot this weekend. It was moderately warm, quite beautiful, but it felt hot to me. I swear I have some kind of fever or something. Foodwise, I was lazy and I'm getting really sick and tired of grilled anything. It's been just north of too hot to cook anything "normal" so we've been basically not been using the oven for the last 3 weeks or so? That leaves us with the option of something in a pan (frying) or something on a grill. Grill still wins. But it's getting old.

We got the TV switched to our new TV stand. That's not at all a small accomplishment. We have six speaker system with four different devices feeding into it. That's a lot of cables and what a hellish mess behind it all. YUCK! While stuck behind there, pawing through dusty wires and wiping stuff off I actually begged Janna for "BENADRYL NOW!"  It all looks nice now though and our electronics are actually in a cabinet, not on top of one. We also mowed the lawn, which we both could have done without :) But it does look nice.

One nice part of the weekend was Project Runway is back! We had no idea there was going to be a season this summer. The last I'd heard was casting six months ago or something. We're enjoying it. There is still the tendency to toss in heartwarming stories of people overcoming their past courtesy of Lifetime network. But this season's crop looks pretty interesting.

We also watched an older DVD called "1940s House" which is a reality tv thing where a British family is put into the position of spending a month living as a family did during WW-II, dealing with air raids, rationing, and so on. I gather it ran on PBS at some point. It's quite excellent.

So you haven't heard me mention Rift much. That's because I basically stopped playing. I lost my raid spot (to people who don't show up apparently--they are cancelling raids because of the no-shows), but then something far more drastic happened. The game had already taken a turn for the worst with the creation of an automated instant teleport to the dungeon LFG tool. (I swear the G is for Grief, not Group.) And almost immediately, the same things started to happen that happened in WoW. Nobody talks. It's expected you will be overgeared and the only way to run is to rush to finish. And when they announced it was going cross-shard, that was it for me. I just lost all interest in logging in.

Eve is quiet. I log in and check my PIs and I'll go on fleets if they're scheduled when I can, but I can't just sit online hoping something gets set up. I think everyone is really just waiting out the supercap nerf, hoping it happens and we can get back to having actual wars instead of 100 supercap fleets being effectively a veto on anything.

So I've ended up, of all things, starting up back where I started in Ultima Online. I have a little stall that I sell animals at and I'm having a reasonable time toodling around and growing my plants.
