So, stuff happened. It was kind of a whirlwind weekend or at least it felt like it. It was hot and I've felt "off." I don't know what it is, but that feeling you get when you're not sick, but you might be coming down with something. Part might be the heat. It was brutal over the weekend.

One result of this was I barely cooked at all. On saturday we did Pho takeaway and I got a bit of a surprise. I had posted a review, at the time the first one, of our local Pho place on tripadvisor and they actually had the page on the wall. It was a weird and nice feeling. They're now the top restaurant in Yarmouth on the site. And given the paucity of any sort of authentic Asian food or even up to date American-Chinese (we're the land that Szechuan forgot), they deserve it. Sunday of all things, we took away fried chicken from KFC. I've had a craving for it forever and it's just such a pain in the butt to make. Wish there was a better place, but beggars...

We did a lot of driving around looking at houses. This expresses how hot it was and that we have air conditioning in the car as much as it does our eagerness to move. We saw one I sort of liked, it was up on a hill which I thought added some architectural excitement. Janna didn't like the hill and the third bedroom appears to be really isolated in the basement--more of an in-law studio apartment without a kitchen than a bedroom. We also found another one that we liked in most ways, but it was RIGHT next to high tension wires. We're not worried about some pseudoscience about power lines, but that amount of sun plus the ATVers isn't appealing.

Then there was the house, which I still can't help thinking of as "our house." As part of yesterdays festivities I talked to a gay friendly real estate agent who was recommended by another woman at work. I liked him right off and I think we'll probably be using him as a buyer/seller agent. Given that our current house is still deeded in my old name, it's going to be an interesting closing with a lot of coming out. Again and again. The agent is going on an anniversary vacation and will be back after labor day. We're going to use that time to whip our house into shape as much as possible. That means getting a bunch of stuff tossed out from the basement and then doing some stuff to clean up our house and probably hide some of the imperfections--mostly painting over chips and such with some diluted stain. The biggest thing is Janna's and that's repainting our bedroom. We'll probably also do some dismantling and such, possibly including storing the large tv and speakers and all that since really, there's not room for a big one in the living room and we don't really want to point that out.

In other nice news, our sliding door will be installed tomorrow and Thursday. I haven't really mentioned this, but our slider is totally kaput. It was so stuck that at one point the handle broke off inside. We were able to force it for a while, but it's totally seized up and the seal is also broken so its foggy and the screen is trashed completely. I'm so looking forward to a nice modern slider. I've actually worn a path between the side door and the grill!
