Well it's officially snowing. We're expecting 6-12 inches, but it's kind of a crap shoot. I have a pretty solid inkling that we won't have work tomorrow as it's supposed to go all through the night and into tomorrow morning. The roads are already kind of mediocre. I remember being able to drive in the snow, but 7 years in DC and 13 years here have really reduced my comfort with it.
Hopefully we won't lose power. Supposedly the snow is going to be light and less likely to take down power lines, but we'll see.
Having New Years in the middle of the week was strange. We had a nice dinner. I made steak and shrimp, both cocktail and baked stuffed which are Janna and my favorites respectively. We also had some nice "fresh" green beans. Well, they weren't frozen or canned. I'm not sure how fresh they were otherwise. They were quite tasty though.
That was it and yesterday we just had leftovers. We're so dull.
Nora has been, to be charitable, a bit of a trial. She is like me and doesn't like the cold, but she also needs to work off energy and she's not been getting enough exercise. I got her out for a walk today and Janna's been taking her out to stores and such. She's slowly getting more used to social experiences which is good.
One of the places we took her was the local pet shop. It's not much of a shop, but it at least has a marine department. She enjoyed looking at the rats and mice. We didn't mention why there were so many. One thing we got to thinking about as a result of the visit was converting the large fish tank to a community tank. My shellies can do just fine in a smaller tank and two of the three other cichlids, who are more territorial, have died and the one remaining doesn't really look all that hot. They are four years old, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised they're looking a bit aged. In any case, it would be nice to have a nice big community tank full of colorful fish.
