I'm glad the stress is over. There's always *some* stress with buying a different house, but dayum, each time you posted it made me think that you better love that house more than life itself to put the kind of work into it that it needs.
It might be better for the current owner to let the bank foreclose on it - current owner can't fix the problems out of her own pocket, bank will either short sale it or fix the stuff out of their pockets (most likely the latter - if they do short sale it, you might want to see what they're asking, as you might be able to afford it then ;)

Out of curiousity, why is the bathroom painting taking so long? I've never spent more than one day painting a bathroom, including taking all the hardware down and doing 2 coats on the ceiling and walls...
