Weekend Stuff

Let's see. I took friday off because I have it's either two or three weeks of vacation to burn before my anniversary date July 1st. I'll be doing more days off as well, just to burn it. I get three weeks a year and this year Janna won't be able to take vacation for awhile with her new job, so no week longs to SF or Seattle (blah!)
It was nice, but it never feels like "vacation" if you're just bumping around the house alone.
Saturday we went out to a nice little conservation area in Eastham. Wonderful walk. I was pretty convinced we were lost until suddenly BOOM there was the entry and our car. After that I made a dinner that Janna found in Cooking Lite, a lime and mustard sauce chicken with cumin roasted potato slices. Delicious. We grabbed some fresh beans which were glorious, but there was a hideous amount of wastage, so after picking out the bad onesand trimming them, it wasn't nearly as many as we'd have liked.
We watched Claire of the Moon. Zzzzz. What a tedious pretentious mess that was. Sorry. But our community has gone past this kind of thing and it had when the movie was made. The only part I really enjoyed was the old school dyke's sense of humor. The rest was just so sterile. A kind of 1980s lesbotopian view of what women were about. Thank Goddess for the Suzie Bright and the feminist Third Wave! Ok, still it wasn't an entire waste. It was fine. It just wasn't as good as we'd expected from a classic.
Sunday we did yardwork. I buried our stump. It's still a muddle, but at least it's no longer a hole in the ground or a stump. It needs to be smoothed out and then raked and have something planted. Janna has some ideas for an annual that does fast ground cover. And we'll probably plant flowers in a whiskey barrel. (Wonder if we could it filled to start? No, probably that's too many manhattan's even for me.)
Sunday evening was an irritating bust. We were going to get Mexican, but when we got there the place was closing up! And we were both really really craving it. We ended up with Chinese buffet, which was fine, but we wouldn't have gone out if we'd known the Mexican place was closed. I would have just cooked. I think I'll do Mexican tonight.
