*hacked*

I made a nice dinner and then sat down with a manhattan cocktail to enjoy an evening of puzzling the 7 seas. Or at least the Hunter Ocean. I couldn't get into Puzzle Pirates and it looked like another Comcast DNS failure since their website was also down. So I decided to log into my work pc remotely and see if I could get to the website from there.

But there was already a browser window up. With a ftp server installer on it. And what is that in the corner of my desktop? What's that NOT in the corner. No antivirus icon.

So much for that manhattan.

I use realvnc to get into town hall from home and I was hacked. Turns out there's a flaw they found three weeks ago and I missed it. Someone in Israel didn't.

They installed an irritating but mostly harmless virus on my PC, which then ran around our file servers. Fortunately it only affects exe's and I was able to clean everything out and then restore everything from backup, but it wasn't a lot of fun.

So it's 1:30am.

I always say a four day work turns into more work than a five day one. Apparently a 2 day workweek is even worse.
