Irritated or Amused?
Sep. 27th, 2005 11:57 amI can't decide if I'm irritated by this or just amused at the ludicrousness of it, but my Medical Certification from Dr. Chettawut is not acceptable to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. No, it's not that it was from Thailand or that it wasn't notarized, that's fine.
It doesn't state that the surgery is completed. Mind you it does say that the surgery consisted of "penectomy (removal of penis shaft), bilateral orchidectomy (removal of testes), vaginal opening reconstruction, urethral opening reconstruction, outer labia construction, sensate clitoral hood & neo-clitoris construction, and inverted penile vaginoplasty" but it doesn't say it's completed. Perhaps I'm laying on the table right now? I mean, how could it not be completed given the details.
In any case, I've written to poor Dr. Chettawut begging for a new letter. At least that will let me keep the originals, which the state takes.
The entire letter that was rejected is below.
------------------
To Whom It May concern
Ms. Kathleen Louise Lambert, born December 17, 1965 as a male child, has been diagnosed by a team of medical professional with gender identity disorder.
On May 19, 2005, I performed sex reassignment surgery (male to female SRS) for this patient at Vibha-ram hospital, Bangkok, Thailand.
The surgery was consisted of penectomy (removal of penis shaft), bilateral orchidectomy (removal of testes), vaginal opening reconstruction, urethral opening reconstruction, outer labia construction, sensate clitoral hood & neo-clitoris construction, and inverted penile vaginoplasty.
The breast augmentation surgery with 450cc textured surface, cohesive gel implants, and the abdomianl skin graft for neovaginal lining were done as additional procedures.
For medical and legal reasons, she is now an infertile female since her gender has been permanently changed to female because of sex reassignment surgery.
Her endorinology now is hypogonadal and will therefore require female sex hormones for her lifetime to remain healthy.
I declare under penalty of perjury under the laws that the foregoing is true and correct.
