Weekend Update
Oct. 17th, 2011 12:50 pmI did nothing this weekend. Well that's what it feels like. I catassed more than a bit in Rift. I'm enjoying myself. It's casual and I can just fit it in. Janna had a hair appointment on Saturday and was out for most of the morning, which is my usual gaming time. Nora and I had a nice time playing and watching a the two Manchester matches. Afterwards I got in some gaming time.
Janna went to the Farmer's Market and picked up some really nice looking fingerling potatoes. There's something about the local soil that just gives potatoes a lot of great flavor. So Saturday evening I made a tasty roasted chicken with a bit of lemon and garlic. I steamed the potatoes and then put them in butter and let them simmer a bit and absorb it. And I roasted some brussels sprouts. It was fantastic. I am not the best at cooking chickens. I frequently will overcook a roasted chicken. And often the Stop & Shop brand is overly fatty. This was a great chicken and I was cautious and nailed the cooking time. Wonderfully juicy and tasty, the lemon adding, but not overwhelming. The potatoes were fantastic. Just full of flavor.
Sunday was Janna's turn. We went out for a drive and when we got back she made this really wonderful white bean soup. It had shallots and (cape grown) garlic and some cream. But it was both light and filling and perfectly flavored. I made a spaghetti with black pepper as the main course. It came out ok, quite enjoyable really, but I felt like it was missing something.
So that was my weekend. We ate :)
Oh we also watched Thor, which was quite enjoyable.
