So much for codewords. No more of that liberal war on Christmas nonsense, the "conservatives" are getting to the heart of it. It's not the liberals, it's the JEWS.

Yeah, it's just some whack job blog site on the right? Except it's not. Townhall.com is a spinoff of the Heritage Foundation, the think tank that pretty much created the crowd (perhaps bund is a better term) currently occupying 1600 Penn. In fact, just last week, Condi Rice visited Heritage calling them "a true bedrock of our democratic principles, our freedom, our way of life and a vehicle by which free men and women can debate their future."

Is it time to leave yet?

The initial blog you've linked to is (apparently) written by a Jewish man. So I dunno, I think it you're Jewish you get the right to yell at other jews, just as women can get away with slagging people off for being 'too girly', etc etc.

hardly - though the worst anti-semites throughout history have been Jews.....

Sigh.

It may well be time to move. It's just 3 hours north, not like I'd have to leave familiar environs.

Anyone want to help my partner find a job up there?

Agreed. And this guy in particular is a Jewish neo-con who definitely hates other Jews who aren't on the same right wing side of the political spectrum as he is, and who don't support Bush as he does either. Charming - not.

I ask this respectfully as possible, but did you RTFA?

I'm not saying I support this guy or anyone who thinks Bush is a stand up guy. But if I take that article at face value, except where he takes a dig at the ACLU, I pretty much agree with it.

Sorry if thats an unpopular opinion, but I do think there is such a thing as being TOO politically correct.

Maybe you're reading some hidden message I'm not seeing, if so, ok. I'll take your word on it, you're a smart gal, but I dont see it.

The guy has a good, if unpopular in some parts, point.

As a non-Christian I have no issues with the celebration of Christmas, and believe that anything that censors it is just wrong (it's not like Americans hold the nativity at school) - the most troubling part is the fact that Fedex banned their drivers from wearing Santa hats, just plain PC pettiness.

It stands in pretty stark contrast to Britain where it's a Christmas holiday and any attemt to change it into 'the holidays' would be laughed at.

That said, his pointing the fingers at one section of the US (even one of which he's part) is wrong, there's a responsibility of all of us to end this silliness and allow each and every one to celebrate their faith in a way that won't get slapped with a law suit.

This has been so obvious to me since the beginning (that the war on "Happy Holidays" is an overt war on the long-standing acknowledgement of Jewish Hannukah) that I'm amazed no one, even Jon Stewart, has dared to call it for what it is - the unveiling of the virulent anti-Semitism of the Christian Right - "The JEWS killed JEEZUS!". Of course, the Hertiage Foundation contains a hell of a lot of Jewish neocons, but like the referenced blog-writer, they appear perfectly willing to unleash the beast of right-wing anti-Semitism as a side-effect of bringing about their larger overall agenda.

I think that the real problem is that right-wingers don't realize that other people have different ideas. Not everyone subscribes to the same magazines, drinks the same soda, drives the same car, or...get this...celebrates the same holidays.

I think that if the righties read this stuff and discovered that there were different opinions out there, they'd go on some national book-burning rally or something.

If any one group was to kill Christmas, I'd personally prefer it to be pagans ;)

I think that's the fourth syndicated columnist I've seen testifying that even though he is Jewish, he just luuuuuvs living in this Christian Nation(TM) where everyone wants him to have a Merry Christmas. (Another one is Boston Globe's Jeff Jacoby.)

How do you say "plantation politics" in Yiddish?
