the usual suspects

Just to explain, yesterday I dropped by GP and saw that there's a massive cleanup going on, there's a bunch of new mods, and rules and everything else. What I found most amusing is that in at least one forum the rules have been posted next to the last set of rules since the last cleanup. I loved GP desperately. I'd love TS to be the kind of space that GP was. But I've seen these cleanups before. There's a lot of noise and the law is laid down. Then nothing changes. So I find it hard to believe they actually mean it. What it most reminds me of is Captain Renault's "round up the usual suspects."

To me it was never really an issue about "me" as much as it was about other people. Sometime in the fall I realized that I wasn't passing on the URL, particularly to younger transitioners, because it was such a cesspool. That was a bolt of lightning. I just wish we could attract a few more of the better posters to raise the level of discussion on TS.
