The weekend was a weekend. It was not very pleasant out and I was very "off" because of basically not sleeping Thursday night. Plus I was all freaky worrying about whether or not my network was safe or I was going to walk into a nightmare today. My irritation about the mich/ferrick thing segwayed into our beloved fuhrer starting up the hate machine against gay people. It's always nice to be reminded by the leader of the "free" world that you're a danger to society to brighten up your day.

Janna was in a similar cheery mood and we were bouncing off of each other.

So really, we didn't get up to very much.

The one thing we did get to was we went to Aye Caramba Saturday night, which was good. We tried their guacamole, which was fantastic, especially with their fresh cooked chips. I had enchiladas, which were good, but insanely spicy even for me! Janna got a batch of tacos. I don't think I've babbled about AC, but they're a very wholesome Mexican place. The tacos are in a fresh corn tortilla, not a cracky fried one. And they have real meat, which is marinated and slow cooked. None of this is at all like what you would find in even a "good" tex-mex style restaurant.

Oh and we got three separate dump runs in. Yes, we actually made a dump run just for cleaning out the refrigerator. Scary eh?

And I obsessively played Puzzle Pirates. I've found a decent enough Crew. I keep thinking the grass might be greener elsewhere though. I kind of like the anonymity at the moment though.

Speaking of the refrigerator, did you ever go through that last bit of sauce I made? The one I made a little too spicy?

Also, I think in addition to the bottle of Highland Park 12 year, I left a bottle of akvavit in your freezer. I hope you realized that obviously you could help yourselves (I know neither of you are scotch drinkers, but I'm trying to remember what you thought of akvavit).

Oh, and Aye Carumba is excellent - and very different type of Mexican than authentic Tex-Mex and the also the type of Mexican you tend to find in Taqueiras(sp?) in Dallas - while driving around with Stevie and Mo, we ended up at a place where a) we three were the only ones that weren't ethnically hispanic and b) Mo and I were the only non-spanish speakers (they weren't even that surprised that Stevie spoke pretty good spanish).

Do you know what region of Mexico the food at Aye Carumba is?

Also, Stevie mentioned that hispanic sometimes gets used for anyone that can function in spanish - and there's a specific word for white, non-latino/a spanish speakers.

Yes, it got mixed in with other sauce and eaten up.

And yes on both the alcohols. I think I took the aakavit out of the fridge. Janna's been on a gin kick and I'm still with the manhattans.

And that wonderful boxed shiraz I found. Though as reviews keep coming in, the price has edged up a few dollars.

The Delicato? I told my mother about that, and she loves it.

Mmm, gin. Other than a gin and tonic with Stevie, it's been too long. Way too long.

Ah, real Mexican food. It's one of the most wonderful things about living in Houston - the cheap real Mexican available on every corner. Fresh corn tortillas are one of the great joys of life.
