Jaws is running in the background on retroplex. It's not really a horror movie about a shark. It's a documentary about Cape & Islands life. Sothere's a wonderful scene right at the beginning. The first girl has been munched on by Bruce the shark and Chief of Police Brody is interviewing the only witness, a college student who's out on the island for ... we don't really know how long... who saw the girl while drunk out of his mind.
And Chef Brody asks the kid if he's an Islander. And the kid responds oh yes. Of course! Well, he doesn't live there. And his parents don't live there. But he was born there. He's an Islander. Are you an Islander Chief? No he's just chief of police, he only lives there 12 months a year, owns a home, knows everyone in town, plans to spend the rest of his life there. But he was born in NYC so he's not an Islander. The kid, he's here for a week or two to get drunk in the summer, but it's ok. He's an islander.
