Well last week was town meeting. I put in 14 hours on Monday and then 11 on Tuesday. That kind of kicked my butt for the rest of the week, but it did leave me with a lot of comp time. So I took half of Thursday and Friday off. So for me, this was a long weekend.

Honestly I remember very little of it other than loafing around the house, playing with Nora, playing Rift, and watching various mysteries with Janna. It was, however, quite wonderful. Looking back, we watched a whole lot of tv. Prime Suspect, Doctor Who (old--we rented Sarah Jane's first appearance as a way to remember Elisabeth Slayden), The Killing (AMCs new series--great), Waking the Dead, and Spartacus: Blood and Sand.

I think I've figured out one problem with this lesbian parenting thing. Mother's Day. There's nobody who's not a mother to feel guilty and do something for you :) On the other hand, doing it for ourselves is probably less work than having some guys try to something.

We had a nice day anyway. Janna mowed the lawn while I vacuumed and cleaned the kitchen. And we had Janna's parents over for an extended dinner. I was happy with how things came out. I did garlic hasselback potato with pesto, some steaks marinated in herbal olive oil, and brocolli (I'd have had asparagras, but I'm really not convinced her parents like it. I think they have the typical boomer thing about asparagras and brussels sprouts. They always eat it when I serve it, but kind of look at it dubiously first.) Nora was a horrible fuss in the early afternoon, but after a nap woke up just when her parents came over and was an absolute angel for most of the day.
