Weekend Update

Getting a moderate amount done this weekend. We did a home depot run (yuck) yesterday and got some repairs done to our old house. Also picked up a new range hood at Sears for the old place--we replaced the harvest gold range with a white range a few years ago but forgot about the range hood. DOH! So it's been mismatched since then. And most glorious for us, no more wiggling and hoping we don't fall off. Our replacement harvest gold toilet seat came and was installed. That was a nightmare. The bolts weren't just a little sticky, they were basically big hunks of rust--probably the original seat and bolts from the 1978 construction.
We stopped by the new place to check and see if a room was free. Slowly but surely the old tenants stuff is disappearing. We also talked a little more and we're going to refinish the floors. About 2/3rds are nearly new, but there are big scuffed up parts from the previous tenants dog. So we're doing the front page removal, painting, floors, and the fireplace before/right after moving in. A little scary to put that much into a house we won't technically own, but it needs to get done and it will be infinitely easier before we move in. Or being a bit more honest about it, the painting and floors won't get done unless we do it before we move in. We'll just put it off and realize when we're old and grey that we never got around to it.
I think after Janna doing a couple of dump runs I'm going to descend into the dungeon and go through some more boxes of electronics.
Other than that. Nice enough weekend. The fall is definitely here on Cape Cod. It's actually kind of nice.
